GREEN FIELDS BEYOND
Community Workshop Facilitator (2016)
Commemorating the centenary anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, Green Fields Beyond showcased the story of Lincoln in 1916, when the women of the city worked as munitionettes making the world’s first tanks in Lincoln’s industrial factories, whilst the men from the city and beyond were fighting in the war.
The project included both a large-scale outdoor spectacular community production and event that involved hundreds of local people; as well as a series of local community workshops that contributed to a huge parade through Lincoln City Centre celebrating the city’s heritage, agricultural and industrial background as well as its historical connection to the anniversary of the first world war.
In collaboration with ‘Fete Day’, ‘Rosa Productions’, 'Shademakers UK’ and BBC Lincolnshire, our Director, Sophia worked as a Community Workshop Facilitator, supporting and delivering of the production held at Lincoln Castle and also a wide range of accessible arts workshops for multiple ages and abilities and communities across Lincoln and Lincolnshire. These workshops put local people and communities at the heart of the project as they engaged and invited groups, schools and many others to create props, banners, flags, costumes and much more that would be included in the performance as well as the High Street parade which they all became part of.
